General Info Regarding South Africa

CLOTHING - CLIMATE

Due to fluctuations in temperature, we advise you to bring a down jacket for early mornings and evenings as well as a light wind breaker and sweater. Three changes of comfortable clothing - khaki - dark green - and two pairs of well worn boots should be sufficient. A hat or peaked cap and hunting gloves are essential. Don't forget your own personal items, plus camera, film, binoculars and sun block. Camouflaged clothing is not permitted by law.

 

MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
Consult with your physician and begin a program of malaria medication two weeks prior to your safari. No other vaccinations or medicines are required.

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Conditions

  1. Quotations are based on itineraries and requirements specified by the client. Upon acceptance of the quotation, any changes requested by the customer which may incur additional costs will be charged to the client.

  2. Prices are subject to change in the event of a change in the price of fuel or in the VAT rate.

  3. Acceptance of the quotation will be regarded as acceptance of Charlton Tours Terms and Conditions.

Reservations, deposits and payment

  1. 10% deposit of total quoted price to confirm reservation.

  2. 25% deposit is required if services are to be rendered within 31 to 60 days.

  3. 100% payment is required if services are to be rendered within 30 days.

  4. Full payment of services is required prior to departure.

  5. A deposit of 40% of the safari cost is payable on confirmation of the booking of a hunting safari. The balance of the safari cost is payable on commencement of the safari. Personal cheques will not be accepted. We recommend cash, cashiers cheques or travelers cheques. No refunds of deposits will be made if the safari is cancelled 90 days prior to the safari, unless the space is rebooked.

Cancellations

  1. Cancellations shall only be valid if received in writing.

  2. The following cancellation fees will be charged:
    27 - 21 days notice       30% of total quoted price.
    20 - 14 days notice       50% of total quoted price.
    13 - 7 days notice         75% of total quoted price.
    Less than 7 days notice  Full quoted price payable.

Passenger luggage

  1. Personal belongings and luggage are carried at the owner's risk. Charlton Tours accepts no liability for loss or damage under any circumstances.

  2. Passengers shall under no circumstances carry with them on the coach any weapons, explosives or items which is dangerous or likely to cause offence to other passengers or their property.

Exclusions or Liability

  1. Charlton Tours shall not be liable in any way for partial or total failure to perform the contract by reason of any mechanical or other defects, breakdown, accident or any other cause including fire or natural disaster or any delays in starting, transit, arrival or return of hired vehicle.

 

EXCHANGE AND PURCHASES
International banking facilities are available locally. Shopping in the main cities comparable with Europe and the U.S. In the outlying areas most necessities can be obtained. You will have time to do souvenir and African Craft shopping.

 

INSURANCE
It is advisable to arrange your own travel and accident insurance since we accept no liability for injuries, accidents and/or loss of or damage to equipment.

 

TRANSPORT
Transport from Johannesburg International Airport to the Game Lodge in Luxury air-conditioned Micro Bus 
$ 220 p.p return
